Black in Data: Building connections and community during career growth
Building a career in data takes more than technical skill. It also means navigating identity, community, and growth in spaces where you may not always see yourself reflected.
Sponsored by Black at dbt, this session centers the experiences of Black data practitioners across individual contributor and management paths. A practitioner-led panel will explore career progression, mentorship and sponsorship, and how to stay authentic at work.
Through guided reflection and small-group conversation, attendees will connect with peers in an intentionally low-pressure environment that prioritizes belonging over transactional networking. Participants will leave with practical next steps for their careers, a stronger sense of community, and relationships they can continue building beyond dbt Summit.
