Building dbt projects in rough terrain: creating a trailguide for dbt pioneers
Not all of us work at organizations that live on the cutting edge, and while dbt may now be a decade old there are plenty of organizations that are just starting their data modernization journey (or still hanging out behind the start line). Sometimes it is up to the individual innovator to start building and lead their team into the modern world of version control, isolated environments, and iterative development of tested data products. This is a collective problem solving session for experienced analytics engineers and data leads introducing dbt to these constrained, slow-moving organizations. Whether it be people problems (pitching leadership or shifting how you engage with stakeholders), process problems (scaling the dbt development team from one to many), or technology problems (highly restrictive IT environments), we’ll start solving these challenges together through structured discussions and share-outs, creating a trailguide* for dbt pioneers everywhere.
