Black in Data: an evening of connection, community, and career growth
Building a career in data isn’t just about technical skills. It also means navigating identity, community, and growth in spaces where you may not always see yourself reflected.
This evening session, sponsored by Black at dbt, centers the experiences of Black data practitioners across individual contributor and management paths. Through an honest, practitioner-led panel, speakers will share how they’ve navigated career growth, mentorship and sponsorship, authenticity in the workplace, and what it takes to move forward with confidence.
The session will also include a guided moment for attendees to connect with others in the room, helping turn shared experiences into real relationships. Rather than focusing on transactional networking, this moment is designed to foster authentic, low-pressure connections.
Participants will leave with a stronger sense of belonging in the data community, practical insight into career growth, and connections they can build beyond dbt Summit.
