Becoming a dbt Architect

This course is designed for platform leaders and technical owners responsible for scaling dbt across teams. You’ll learn practical architecture patterns for secure, maintainable dbt implementations—covering environments, permissions, project structure, and operational workflows that support many contributors. This course aligns to skills assessed in the dbt Architect certification.

After this course, you will be able to:

• Explain how dbt integrates with your data platform and git provider
• Design environment strategies that support safe promotion to production
• Apply best practices for structuring projects and accounts for scaleIdentify key security and governance controls to support collaboration (access, approvals, and change management)

Prerequisites:

• dbt Fundamentals (or equivalent experience)

What to bring:

• You must bring your own laptop to complete the hands-on exercises
• We will provide any required sandbox environments for dbt and the data platform

Duration: 4 hours

• A valid dbt Summit pass is required to register for trainings and certifications
• Trainings and certifications will take place in-person at dbt Summit only
