Chart Slop: Your BI Tool Shipped the Mess

For decades, BI tools have shipped with bad defaults. They sometimes made the wrong call and, worse, often made no call at all: How many ticks are correct (surely not “as many as can fit”)? When do labels go in a legend or on the mark? How should charts convey zero, null, and missing values? We will dissect the haphazard "BI default" collection of panels and show how to build a cohesive and dynamic dashboard system.
