Melissa Simpson

Mel Simpson is a Lead Analytics Engineer at Virgin Media O2, with over 10 years of experience turning complex data problems into scalable solutions. She’s worked extensively with dbt, GCP, Git, and Snowflake, and has hands-on experience across a range of data modelling methodologies. She enjoys getting into the details of optimisation, improving workflows, and designing solutions that actually scale in large, real-world environments. More recently, along with her team, Mel has been exploring dbt Fusion at VMO2, helping drive faster, more efficient ways of building and validating data at scale. She's particularly interested in how AI and more agentic ways of working will reshape analytics engineering—and always keen to experiment with what’s next.
