Grant Terms and Conditions

An application for a grant of hotel, travel, meal, and ticket expenses (“Grant”) as indicated herein to the Event indicated at the top must be received by Grant Application Deadline (see header) and are subject to Applicant’s agreement to these terms and conditions. Late applications and applications in languages other than English will not be accepted. We are not responsible for applications which are lost, incomplete, damaged or late due to computer, network or telecommunications failure based on third party telephone or data networks.

dbt Labs’ decision about eligibility, shortlisting and awarding the grant(s), including the validity of any applications submitted, is final. Correspondence will not be entered into. dbt Labs may at its sole discretion decide not to award the grant(s) where in its reasonable opinion, no application meets the relevant criteria.

dbt Labs will contact the successful Applicant by email on or before the Grant Award Date (see header). If successful, you must confirm your acceptance of the Grant in writing no later than the Acceptance Deadline (see header). If you don’t respond by the Acceptance Deadline, or if you subsequently withdraw or are withdrawn for any reason, we may select another applicant in your place without compensation to you.

You agree that all information submitted by you is true, accurate and complete, that you meet all of the eligibility requirements, and that receiving the grant will not violate any of your contract or legal commitments.

If successful, you will be registered with us on our Grant program. You agree to abide by our company policies as communicated to you from time to time.

If your Grant application is successful, the Grant will be offered to you for the specified Event, and cannot be or to another person. There is no cash or other compensation alternative to the Grant if you cannot accept the terms.

For the avoidance of doubt, training and certification exams are not included in the Grant and are not part of any Grant. For more information on training and learning opportunities, please refer to our “How to Learn” page.

dbt Labs will book and cover the room rate cost of up to three nights at the applicable hotel selected by dbt Labs for the specific nights indicated to you by dbt Labs. Any incidental charges above the room rate are your responsibility in full and will not be reimbursed by dbt Labs. The hotel may require you to give a credit card to cover incidental charges during your stay. You must register for the event, book travel tickets, and confirm your arrival and departure hotel dates prior to the Engagement Deadline, or dbt Labs may revoke the Grant. Aside from the nights specified in our communications to you, dbt Labs will not reimburse other nights or pay any additional charges other than those associated with the stated nights. You agree to attend the programming for the dates indicated under Event (above). Any transport costs you incur in attending the Event will be reimbursed within thirty (30) days of our receipt of your invoice with actual, out-of-pocket and documented receipts attached, up to the Maximum Travel/Meals Stipend value (see header). Invoices and accompanying receipts must be submitted to ap@dbtlabs.com with a cc to meetup@dbtlabs.com. Any receipts that are not verifiable, indicate other destinations aside from your residence, the transit location and the hotel, or do not substantiate travel or meals related to the Event will not be reimbursed. dbt Labs will not reimburse for meals other than for the Grant recipient and not for a time frame when a conference meal is available. For clarity, we will only reimburse properly submitted receipts for rideshares or taxis to and from the airport, bus terminal, train station, your residence and the hotel as logically sequenced and indicating travel between your house, to the departure location, and from the arrival location to the hotel.

In the event that you require a visa to attend the Event, you agree that all costs associated with any such application are your responsibility and such costs are not reimbursable by dbt Labs. You are responsible for procuring a visa by the Engagement Deadline. dbt Labs cannot provide advice or assistance in relation to any visa application, but we can provide a visa invitation letter. dbt Labs may remove the Grant immediately in the event that (a) we are of the reasonable opinion that you have made any misrepresentation (whether negligently or intentionally) to us in respect of applying for the Grant; or (b) we are of the reasonable opinion that you have acted fraudulently or dishonestly in connection with securing your Grant. In such event, if you have incurred any costs, dbt Labs is not responsible for reimbursement if we remove the Grant.

In the event that your Grant is removed per Section 10 above or you do not attend the Event (except due to documented illness or unavoidable emergency situation), you agree that you will pay us back any already reimbursed hotel and travel expenses within seven days of our written request. You will not be required to reimburse us for the cost of the conference ticket.

We will use the personal information you provide to us to administer the Grant program and shall process your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy at (https://www.getdbt.com/cloud/privacy-policy/). To the extent we have a sponsor providing Grant(s) (“Sponsor”), we have your consent to provide the Sponsor your personal information for the purpose of administering and communicating with you about the Grant.

You grant dbt Labs the irrevocable right and permission to take and use visual and audio media (including filming interviews/soundbites etc) during the event, and agree that all rights related to the filming and/or recording(s) (including reproductions) are the sole property of dbt Labs. You understand and agree that you may be identified by name, likeness, and/or biographical information in accompanying printed or internet information prior to, during, and after the event, and dbt Labs shall not be required to seek your approval for its use of your name, likeness and/or biographical information.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we exclude all liability for any direct or indirect loss or liability, costs, claims, taxes, charges or expenses arising from your participation in the Grant or your reliance on statements made or advice given by us, our partners or contractors. If you submit any materials or items as part of your Grant application, this is at your own risk. We undertake no obligations to you to keep safely, maintain or return any materials or items.

Without prejudice to (11) above, our maximum liability to you in connection with the Grant (if any) is limited to the Maximum Travel/Meals Stipend value. Nothing in these terms and conditions excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or fraudulent misrepresentation made by us.

These Terms and any claim, controversy or dispute arising from or related to these Terms, are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware without giving effect to any conflicts of laws provisions. Any claim, suit, action or proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms or its subject matter will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts of Wilmington, Delaware, and each party irrevocably submits to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of such courts in connection with these Terms.
