Becoming a dbt Architect
Friday, September 188:30 AM PT
Learn a practical, repeatable approach to managing analytics costs with dbt. This course focuses on the real-world workflow teams use to control spend: understanding cost drivers, identifying hotspots, establishing team standards, and turning cost signals into an actionable optimization backlog.
Learning objectives: After this course, you will be able to:
- Explain common cost drivers in analytics workloads (over-refreshing, inefficient transformations, poorly designed rebuild patterns)
- Apply job design and project patterns that reduce avoidable spend
- Create an operating rhythm for cost management (visibility → prioritization → optimization → measurement)
- Define team agreements that prevent cost regressions (standards, review checks, and ownership)
Prerequisites:
- dbt Fundamentals (or equivalent experience)
What to bring:
- You must bring your own laptop to complete the hands-on exercises
- We will provide a sandbox dbt + data platform environment for exercises.
Duration: 4 hours
- A valid dbt Summit pass is required to register for trainings and certifications
- Trainings and certifications will take place in-person at dbt Summit only
